What you write to explain a thing changes the thing.
Writing the explanation surfaces the bad seams — if a decision is hard to describe simply, it's usually a sign the decision itself is wrong. Documentation is a design tool, not an afterthought.
Words in an interface exist to make it easier to use. The same care given to spacing and colour belongs to the labels, the errors, and the empty states.
